I
was born in Ontario, Canada and work in project management.
I've
played competitive soccer and hockey for many years, but just became interested
in competing in bodybuilding as a sport about two and a half years ago.

I was initially interested in just
getting into very good shape. I dieted like a bodybuilder, but it wasn't until
I volunteered backstage for a show that I really got the "bug."
I
placed second in the Northerns (Alberta) 2008 and took fourth place in the Provincials
(AB) 2008. I am currently working towards Provincials again in 2009 and (fingers
crossed) Nationals as well!
Of course, Northerns was a great
"high" to place second in my very first competition. The caliber of
athletes in Northern Alberta is above most others at the same level. Then 3 weeks
later I placed 4th at Provincials. Again a great high! Especially, considering
I had the flu.
In "off" season, I train four to five
times a week. If I am training alone, I bang out my workouts with little rest
between. If I'm working out with my partner, it takes a bit longer. Typically
1.5 hours. She likes to call herself "Julie's rest between sets." (LOL)
I love training shoulders and back. My least favorite would have to be legs (because
they are my weak point, so I hit them twice a week). I would have to say my shoulders
are my best body part. That's my opinion though.
When I'm training
for competition, I love the discipline and dedication it calls for. In the off
season I enjoy trying new exercises to see what it can do to my body and if it
can increase my muscle density and overall "look."
Typically,
my day starts at 5:45AM when I get ready for work, then after work I go home to
let the little furry animals out, eat supper, get ready for the gym, hit the gym,
hit the tanning beds, eat again, relax and sleep.
I enjoy spending
time with my loved ones, camping, traveling, playing hockey etc. With bodybuilding
I enjoy the dedication and discipline. Without that, life would be very boring
for me J I need goals!
I used to barrel race when I was younger and teach
western style horseback riding to kids. I also used to race BMX bikes.
I would love to make it to Ms. Olympia; that is my ultimate goal. I would also
like to own a gym someday for serious trainers to come and feel at home.
Please
note: Julie does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask!!
